Wat Pho

Local nameวัดโพธิ์
LocationPhra Nakhon, Bangkok, Thailand

The Temple of Reclining Buddha is in the highest ranks of importance of Thai temples - a royal temple. It was built by King Rama I and it is a place where some of his ashes are buried. During the reign of Rama III, it was renovated and enlarged. The temple complex is filled with golden Buddha statues, the most prominent and imposing being the one that gave the temple its name.

There is also a Thai Traditional Massage School located inside the temple complex and you can have a Thai massage there (for a fee).

Dress appropriately - since it is a place of religious significance, the dress code is very important and strictly monitored. The temple complex is rather vast, so be sure to save enough time for it.
