Eikan-dō Zenrin-ji

Local name永観堂禅林寺 (Eikan-dō Zenrin-ji Temple)

This is the head temple of the Pure Land Buddhist sect. Its name means View of Eternity Hall and Temple of Forest of Zen. It is a true jewel of Japanese architecture which is very much worth visiting. If you can, visit the temple during the autumn months when the trees around it are beautifully colored.
