Wat Benchamabophit Dusit Wanaram Ratchaworawihan

Local nameวัดเบญจมบพิตรดุสิตวนารามราชวรวิหาร
LocationDusit, Bangkok, Thailand

Made out of Italian white marble, the temple was designed by Prince Naris, the half-brother of King Rama V, for King Chulalongkorn, who had his palace built nearby.

The entrance of the temple is guarded by large stone lions and it features majestic marble pillars, which can also be found in the large courtyard. The facade of the temple is on the reverse side of the Five-Baht coin.

The ordination hall features a statue of Buddha on an illuminated blue background. The ashes of King Rama V are buried under it. The hall is surrounded by a gallery with 52 more statues of Buddha of different styles.

There is a sacred Bodhi tree behind the ordination hall which was actually brought over from India, where Buddha is said to have achieved enlightenment.

Please dress appropriately, the temple is still active and home to monks.
