Arthur's Seat

Local nameArthur's Seat
LocationCity of Edinburgh, UK

Arthur's Seat is located in the centre of Holyrood Park and it is its highest point. As such, it offers splendid views of the city below and the hike up isn't very difficult. This popular tourist attraction is still a great getaway from Edinburgh's rush and buzz.

Even though a popular opinion is that the name of this mountain is connected to King Arthur and legends and romances that surround his reign, there is no real evidence for this claim. It has also been suggested that Arthur's Seat may have been a possible location for the Camelot castle.

If you plan to get all the way to the top, wear appropriate shoes because the road might be slippery. Also bring some snacks and drinks, since the hike up will take you about an hour and a half. You can go to the Holyrood Palace by bus (lines 6 and 35, hop on buses also stop here) and walk from there.
