Celetna Street

Local nameCeletná
LocationOld Town, Prague, Czechia

Being one of the oldest streets in Prague, this lane will charm you with its unique atmosphere. Its name is derived from a type of bread that was produced there in the Middle Ages. It also used to be a part of the Royal Route because it connects the Old Town Square with the Powder Gate.

When walking down this street, try to observe the facades of the houses lining the lane – it is a wonderful mix of Baroque, Gothic and other architectural styles. Note that many of these buildings are adorned with beautiful house symbols.

Be prepared that this street is one of the most visited in Prague. Come early or later at night, if you want to avoid crowds of tourists.
