Originally, it was built as an office for monitoring the shipping. Nowadays it serves as the seat of Balearic government.
The building is Baroque and Renaissance in design and there are two original 17th century cannons guarding the entrance to this imposing building. At the front of the building there are five large archways with a balustrade running around them.
