Dōtonbori Area

Local name道頓堀
LocationChūō-ku, Osaka, Japan

One of the most popular areas of Osaka and a great place to visit if you want to taste delicious Japanese cuisine or do some souvenir shopping. It is best known as a nightlife district with an array of not only restaurants but also bars and cafés.

Among its best-known highlights are e.g. the LED Glico Man Sign (which features a victorious athlete) or a nearly seven-meter-tall crab installed above the entrance to the Kani Doraku restaurant. The food you get in this area is not only delicious but also reasonably priced.

The traditional Osakan dishes you ought to try are e.g. okonomiyaki (a savoury pancake with various toppings), takoyaki (a ball-shaped snack) or ramen (broth with noodles).
