Kanda Shrine

Local name神田明神
LocationTokyo, Japan

This beautiful shrine dates back to the 8th century. It serves as a site of one of Tokyo's main Shinto festivals - the Kanda Matsuri, celebrated every odd year to commemorate shogun Tokugawa's victory at the battle of Sekigahara. It is also a popular site of prayer: to this day, people visit the shrine to pray for prosperity to three deities enshrined in here.

The most fervent visitors to this shrine are technology lovers. Although it might seem a little unusual, it actually makes perfect sense. This is because the temple, located near the shopping district of Akihabara popular for selling various technological gadgets, sells talismans that are meant to help prevent the breakage of said gadgets.

You can get here by metro, Ochanomizu station (JR and Marunouchi line) or Shin-ochanomizu (Chiyoda line).
