One of the world's leading showcases of Byzantine art with astonishing frescoes and mosaics. The mosaics depict a variety of biblical stories from Joseph's dream to flight into Egypt.
The church was turned into a mosque in 15th century and the mosaics were covered with a plaster. They were restored in 1948 and the building serves as a museum these days.
