Morgan State University is Maryland's designated public urban research university and the largest of Maryland's historically black colleges and universities located in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1867 the university, then known as the Centenary Biblical Institute, changed its name to Morgan College to honor Reverend Lyttleton Morgan, the first chairman of its board of trustees and a land donor to the college. It became a university in 1975. MSU is a member of Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

The university offers more than 45 undergraduate, 32 master's, 16 doctoral, and 9 online programs. The university's academic schools and programs include the College of Liberal Arts, the School of Architecture and Planning, the Earl G.
