The building was originally used as the royal palace for king Otto I, but after he moved and the monarchy was abolished, it became the seat of the Hellenic Parliament.

It is worth visiting for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier situated in front of the building. You can also witness the changing of the guards here every Sunday at 11 am.
