Did you know that amusement parks existed as early as the 18th century? If you visit the Prater, you will be able to see such a park with your own eyes.
The Wurstelprater, as locals call it, was first opened to the public in 1766 when Austria was still ruled by the Habsburg monarchy, which makes it the second oldest still functioning amusement park in the world. Today, the park boasts a size of nearly 6 square kilometers and more than 250 attractions. Do not miss a chance to take a ride on its famous Ferris wheel, or, at least, to have dinner there. It offers a beautiful view of the city, especially on sunny days.
The amusement park is located within a public park in central Vienna, and it is quite easy to reach via public transport, too, as there are many lines' stops at the Praterstern Bahnhof Station nearby. From there, you can reach the Prater in 5 minutes by foot.
The complex is open 24/7.
In general, attractions are open from 10 am till midnight but opening hours tend to vary according to weather conditions.
