St. Clara’s Church

Local nameSt. Klara
LocationNuremberg, Italy

This dignified 13th century church is one of the most ancient places of worship in Nuremberg. Notice the ledge and the arched windows - they are delightful examples of the Gothic and Romanesque styles of architecture.

Originally built for the Catholic denomination of the Christian church, it also served as a Protestant temple. It was even used for profane purposes - as a warehouse - during the 19th century. Today, it is a Protestant church once again, as well as a platform for numerous cultural events.
