Located roughly a 35-minute drive from San Francisco, this lovely sandy beach makes for a perfect day-trip destination. You can pick from an array of activities - from surfing and kayaking to volleyball and fishing. The beach is lined with various cafés and restaurants, as well as picnic facilities and BBQ grills.
Once done with sunbathing, you can follow a number of trails and hike to the nearby Mount Tamalpais State Park.
