The Pentagon

Local nameThe Pentagon
LocationWashington, United States

The distinctive building of Pentagon is where the United States Department of Defense is seated. Sometimes, the whole institution of the Department of Defense is referred to as the Pentagon. The building was finished in 1943 and it was designed by George Bergstrom. Apart from the many offices, the building also houses a central plaza nicknamed “ground zero”.

If you wish to visit Pentagon, you need to book a tour in advance (as soon as possible for the places are scarce). The tours are free of charge but there are strict rules concerning them (e.g. stating what sort of ID the participants must have) so be sure to consult them beforehand on the official website. Due to the nature of the institution, there are strict security checks prior to the tours.
