Tōchō-ji Temple

This Shingon Buddhist temple dates back to 806 and consists of several structures, including the famous 10.8 meters high wooden statue of Great Buddha. The work on the statue started in 1988, took 4 years and today, it is the largest statue of a seated Buddha in Japan. Well worth the visit.
