Dolmabahce Palace

Local nameDolmabahçe Sarayı
LocationVişnezade, Istanbul, Turkey

The majestic 19th-century palace complex in European style consists of official and harem sections. It was home to several Sultans before the Caliphate was turned into a republic in 1924. After that, it became a presidential palace. Its well-maintained garden has a great view of the sea.

There are plenty of interesting things to know about the palace – for example, the world’s largest Bohemian crystal chandelier decorates one of its halls, and also the Atatürk's deathbed is here on display. It is definitely a must-see for all lovers of history.
