Arch of Septimius Severus

Local nameArco di Settimio Severo
LocationCampitelli, Rome, Italy

This marble triumphal arch commemorates the victories of Septimius Severus, a Roman emperor, in the wars against the Parthians. It was built in 203 AD by order of his sons Caracalla and Geta (who ruled together as emperors after his death).

It is located at the Roman Forum so you have to get the tickets for the Forum in order to get close to the Arch (the tickets also apply to the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill).

Consider buying the tickets at the Roman Forum for the queues there are much shorter than those by the Colosseum.
