Montgomery County Sheriff's Office

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is a nationally accredited U.S. law enforcement agency and acts as the enforcement arm of the courts in Montgomery County, Maryland. All of its deputy sheriffs are fully certified law enforcement officials with full authority of arrest.The office was created in July 1777 and is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland. It was nationally accredited in 1995, the first county sheriff's office in Maryland to be so. The office is headed by a sheriff; the current sheriff is Darren M. Popkin.
