The golden equestrian statue depicts Augustus the Strong, who was the Elector of Saxony and the King of Poland. The imposing statue is one of the gems of Dresden since 1735. It is also the focal point of the Neustädter Markt. At night, it is beautifully lit up. The lights highlight its golden colour even more.
