Shinjuku Station

Local name新宿駅
LocationTokyo, Japan

The huge railway station, opened in 1885, holds the Guinness World Record for being the busiest railway station in the world. More than 3.5 million people pass through it every day. It serves railway and subway lines, including the famous Japanese bullet trains. There is also a bus terminal located next to the station, along with several large shopping centers and hotels.

The station resembles a maze, with over 200 stops spread over several floor levels and 36 platforms. When visiting, remember to bring a map with you. If you get lost anyway, ask for directions at one of the several information centers.

Besides service centers, you can also find a "sightseeing center" for information for tourists, located on the ground floor of the West Gate area (one of the four main entrances to the station). There is also a lost-and-found office, as well as a police box in the station. Last but not the least, the station is full of lockers, where you can leave your luggage for a small fee.
