Finished in 1856, this bridge commemorates the Battle of Alma of the Crimean War. Napoleon III himself was present during the opening ceremony. Be sure to note the Flame of Liberty sculpture at its north end which serves as a memorial to Princess Diana who died in the nearby Tunnel du Pont de l'Alma.
