Grimani Palace

Although it might not catch your attention when you see it from the outside, this museum contains many interesting paintings and it's perfect for when you want to visit places that are off the beaten path.

Located next to a narrow and quiet canal, this attraction is not flooded with tourists every minute, which is great, because it makes you believe that the art is there just for you. It was initially a residence of the Venetian Doge Antonio Grimani. The palace consists of a courtyard (where you can enter for free) and the rooms, which serve as a museum.

The interior contains no furniture, so you can focus solely on the art and the decorations inside with no distractions. It consists of numerous rooms, for example, the Bosch Room (with the famous Visions of the Afterlife painting), the Room of the Doge, the Neoclassical Room and so on. Notice the beautifully decorated staircase with various stuccoes.

You can get here by waterbuses 1 and 2 (exit at Rialto stop), or 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2, 22 and B (Ospedale).
