Brussels Town Hall

Local nameHôtel de ville de Bruxelles - Stadhuis van Brussel
LocationPentagon, Brussels

The Brussels Town Hall belongs amongst the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the whole country. Constructed in 1420, this building is decorated with many statues of saints, nobles and allegorical figures.

It was almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1695, but it was rebuilt soon after that. The inside of the building is richly furnished with historical works of art and tapestries from the 16th and 17th century.

The Town Hall is a sight to behold both during the day and during the night when it's beautifully lit up. It's a mere 6 minutes walk away from the Brussels Central Railway Station, but you can also get here by trams 3, 4 and 32 (station Bourse Beurs).
