One of the most spectacular cathedrals in Belgium. Originally, it was built as a chapel around the 9th century, then it got rebuilt into a Romanesque church in the 11th century and later - in the 13th century - the church was rebuilt again in Gothic style. The remains of the initial building can still be observed inside.
It boasts a stunning exterior and a 49-bell carillon where Sunday concerts often take place. The most dominant feature of this church are the stained glass windows. Every second and fourth Saturday of the month the Cathedral's towers are open and you can climb all the way to the top.
Fun fact - a couple of falcons lives on the roof and you can watch them through live video camera streaming.
The church is easily accessible from the Gare Centrale metro station, lines 1 and 5.
