Pergamon Museum

Opened to the public in 1930, this museum is one of the largest museums in Germany, as well as one of the most visited ones. It showcases some of the world's most important collections of historical artifacts and art. It is currently undergoing a reconstruction due to which some of the exhibits may be closed.

The museum's collections are divided into three main thematic sections. The most iconic one is the Antiquity Collection, which focuses on artifacts from the Greco-Roman period. It includes the entire Gate of Miletus as well as the majestic Pergamon Altar, after which the entire museum is named. There are also The Islamic Art Museum and The Middle East Museum, where you can admire the Ishtar Gate, as well as some of the oldest written documents in the history of mankind.

It is forbidden to carry coats, jackets or shawls into the museum. If you want to wear any of these items and take them off, you will need to leave them in the cloakroom. It is also forbidden to carry any large items inside, including backpacks. The cloakroom is free of charge.
