Riddarholm Church

This is the final resting place of the members of the Swedish royal family - not only all the Swedish kings and queens from the early 17th century until the 1950s (except for one), but also the king Magnus III, who lived in the 13th century.

The church is located on a small islet in the very center of Stockholm. Its foundations date to the 13th century, which makes it the last medieval abbey still standing in Stockholm today. If you take a peek inside, you can see the coats of arms of the knights of the Swedish Order of Seraphim adorning the walls. When an order member dies, the church rings its bells for an entire hour.

During these ceremonial ringings, the church's premises can be visited even outside the regular opening hours. You can also enter the church outside the hours if you attend one of the concerts frequently taking place here.
