The Insadong is a district centred around a long street of the same name in Seoul. It offers the best from both the old and the new Korea. The best time to visit is on Sundays when cars disappear from the district's streets and various street performers replace them, bringing even more life with them.
In this district, modern art galleries and stores, including a shopping mall, mix with small stalls selling tea and traditional handmade items according to ancient Korean customs.
If you want to experience the historical atmosphere even more, some stalls even let you rent a traditional Korean dress, the hanbok, and wear it while shopping.
The place is easily reachable by the local subway, from either the Jongno 3-ga Station or Anguk Station.
