Horta Labyrinth

Local nameParc del Laberint d'Horta
LocationBarcelona, Spain

Visit one of the oldest preserved gardens in Barcelona and enjoy an afternoon in its natural green labyrinth. The garden was built by an Italian architect Domenico Bagutti in 1792 who was hired by a marquis Joan Antoni Desvalls i d'Ardena, the owner of the land. His descendants expanded the park and added a romantic garden.

The Desvalls family gave the park to the city of Barcelona in 1967 and it was opened as a public park in 1971. The neoclassical garden consists of three Italian-inspired terraces and the park takes its name from the lower terrace featuring the hedge maze. The former palace of the Desvalls family with an ancient medieval watchtower is also part of the complex.
