Hungarian State Opera House

Local nameMagyar Állami Operaház
LocationTerézváros, Budapest, Deutschland

The second largest opera house in Hungary. It opened its gates to visitors in 1884 and remained mostly unchanged. Built in Neo-Renaissance style, this building attracts the eyes of thousands of visitors each year.

Aside from frequent exhibitions and performances, it also offers guided tours focused on the history of the building along with a mini-concert, designed to make you enjoy the atmosphere and excellent acoustics to the fullest.

The building contains various art pieces from Hungarian artists (Bertalan Székely, Mór Than, Károly Lotz and others). There are statues of Franz Liszt (the most known Hungarian composer) and Ferenc Erkel.

While it is mainly meant to be an opera house, there are frequent ballet performances as well. During any time of the year, this establishment is guaranteed to provide you with an amazing experience you will remember for a long time.

You can get here by metro lines M3 (Arany János station) or M1 (Opera station).
