沙特尔圣母主教座堂 位于法国巴黎西南约70公里处的沙特尔市。据传圣母玛利亚曾在此显灵，并保存了玛利亚曾穿着的圣衣，主体建筑于公元1194年，公元1264年竣工。自12世纪以来，沙特尔也成为西欧重要的天主教圣母朝圣地，及沙特尔最著名的地标中心。1979年10月26日世界遗产委员会第3届会议起列入世界文化遗产，该大教堂的建筑和历史价值，被联合国教科文组织称为“法国哥特式艺术的至高点”和“杰作”。 当前大教堂保存完好，而自13世纪初以来，建筑仅发生了微小的改造。主教座堂的外部结构以重型飞扶壁为主，这使建筑师能够显著增加窗户的尺寸，而西端则由两个对比鲜明的尖塔主导，同样值得注意包含三个雄伟的建筑立面，每个立面都装饰着数百个雕刻人物，展示了关键的神学主题和叙事
