The largest Mediterranean-themed aquarium in the world contains almost 4 million litres of water, hundreds and hundreds of different species of fish and an exhibit with Humboldt penguins.
The main attraction is definitely the Oceanarium, an 80-metre long tunnel from which you can observe sea life including tropical fish and sharks. There are also various themed aquariums containing species from the Great Barrier Reef, the Red Sea or the Caribbean Sea. Poisonous fish species also have their own separate aquarium.
If you're feeling courageous, Aquarium offers the shark experience. Here you can learn the basics of scuba diving or dive with sharks in a dive cage.
The Aquarium is pretty huge, so plan enough time to enjoy the most of it. Save money by purchasing your tickets online. It's about 15 minutes away from the metro stop Drassanes (line L3).
The Aquarium generally opens at 10 am, the closing time, however, changes according to the season (7:30 pm - 9:30 pm). Be sure to check the official website prior to your visit and to check the schedule.
