The street got its name ''Big Freedom'' in the 17th century, when the craftsmen were allowed to run their businesses in this area, without being the members of the guilds. Also, people who practised different religions were free to do so here.
Nowadays, this place is a part of city's red light district and it is said to be one of the best locations to party the night away.
