This city gate which has been transformed into a neoclassical triumphal arch has been a popular gathering point for Berliners ever since it was built in the 18th century. Be sure to notice the imposing quadriga situated at the top of the gate.
The gate is one of the most famous landmarks of the whole country and is said to symbolize the unity of Europe and also Germany's changing history. It has also witnessed several crucial historical events.
