Cabo da Roca represents the westernmost extent of mainland Europe and its surrounding area is a popular day trip destination from Lisbon. The coastal views are simply breath-taking. There once stood a fortification guarding the coast, but only its remains can be seen here today, together with a still operating lighthouse.
