This post-modern Roman Catholic cathedral (finished in 2002) is a must-see when in Los Angeles. It definitely stands in contrast with the classic churches and cathedrals and draws attention to itself with its very modern and interesting design. The interior of the cathedral is just as imposing and post-modern as its exterior.
This new cathedral replaced an old one which was badly damaged during the earthquake in 1994. It contains relics of the patroness of Los Angeles (a Roman Catholic virgin martyr) - Saint Vibiana.
Since it is an active church, you should behave quietly and wear appropriate clothes when visiting.
Free admission.
