The European Parliament is the only parliamentary institution of the European Union that is directly elected by EU citizens aged 18 or older. Together with the Council of the European Union, which should not be confused with the European Council and the Council of Europe, it exercises the legislative function of the EU. You do not need to book the tours, just arrive at least 15 minutes before it starts. Tours are not offered during Brrussels plenary sessions (check the website calendar), office closing days and public holidays (Jul 21, Aug 15, Nov 1 and 2, Dec 26, Jan 3).
