Gammelstad Church Town

Local nameGammelstads kyrkstad
LocationLuleå kommun, Sweden

Charming church village with hundreds of falu röd (typical red) wooden houses built around a church to accommodate pilgrims.

The village was used to accommodate people visiting the church and allowed them to stay overnight and prepare for the long journey back.

Miraculously, it was saved from fires and development and is now part of UNESCO World heritage.
