Hunger Wall

Local nameHladová zeď
LocationHradčany, Prague, Czechia

This long white defence wall represents the remains of the city fortification and dates back to the 14th century. Wondering why Hunger Wall? Due to its shape, the wall was originally named "Toothed". After a 1361 famine, it was renamed to "Hunger" because the construction works of the wall provided the poor with jobs and thus with money for food.
