One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world. Surrounding the Monte Palace, a former hotel, it contains an abundant collection of exotic plants from all over the world, endemic plants characteristic of the Madeira Laurissilva (Laurel Forest), two oriental gardens, several ponds of Koi fish, a central lake and an exhibition center.
Throughout the park, you can also observe numerous tile panels ranging from Hispano-Moorish pieces from the 15th and 16th centuries to contemporary panels depicting religious, social, and cultural events.
You can easily get here by bus from the city center (number 20) or by taking the cable car. The entry ticket includes a taste of Madeira Wine in the Terrace Café.
