Nibelung Rooms

Local nameNibelungensäle
LocationMunich, Italy

These five majestic halls are the most breath-taking part of the entire Royal Palace. Their ceilings and walls are decorated with paintings and frescoes that tell the famous Nibelungenlied - a German epic poem. They are free to visit even without a ticket to the Residenz.

The rooms are located in the west wing of the palace. The beautiful artworks that cover them were all created within the span of some 40 years, between 1828 and 1867 by Julius Schnorr.
