One of the most beautiful bridges in the entire country, this bridge is part of the Nikko sanctuary complex, to which it leads. Its name translates as "the Sacred Bridge".
It's the oldest bridge of its style in Japan, constructed as early as 1636. The bridge was off limits to the public until a series of extensive reconstructions, which it underwent in the 1990s and 2000.
