The Castle of Julius II

Also called Rocca di Ostia, this castle is part of the Ostia Antica museum complex.

Built in the 15th century, the fort played an important role in the history of the areas surrounding it. When visiting, try to catch a group tour with one of the local volunteer guides. They can provide a lot of intriguing information about the fortress.

Do not forget to look around after you climb the castle's tower. The views of Saint Peter's Basilica you get from there are priceless.
