Get to know Italy's idyllic coast through these five villages, which form the Cinque Terre National Park along with their surroundings. They have been listed as a part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1997. If you take a walk along one of the trails connecting the villages, you will be able to enjoy amazing views of the Ligurian sea.
The five towns of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore which together form the Cinque Terre area, are all located in mountains above the sea. The earliest historical records date them to the 11th century AD.
If you want to take a stroll through one of the passages that interlink them, remember not to come by car. Even today, the roads leading to the villages are narrow and difficult to navigate. It is much easier to take the train to get here. The villages are also connected by a ferry.
