This park serves as an important place for various gatherings and public events. It is a former burial ground, which got reworked into a park in 1839. It quickly became popular between locals thanks to its location and appearance.

Today, there are various parades and festivals taking place here; you can see street musicians, break dancers and other performers showing their skills to the public. It is no exception to see chess players waiting for passers-by to come and play with them for a few dollars.

There is always something happening in this park; it could be art installations, sport gatherings or jam sessions, this place is never empty. It is mainly known for its fresh food market, where local farmers sell their organic goods.

Union Square Park has always been a popular place for public protests and gatherings. The most famous gathering happened in 1861 after the fall of Fort Sumter, when a quarter of a million people attended a political demonstration.

The place is right next to the 14th street- Union Square subway station (lines 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q and R).
