Originally there were several gates such as this one in Jičín. However, most of them were torn down when the city was being reconstructed. The remaining one (dating back to the 16th century) is now a symbol of the town. If you walk up the 150 steps leading to the observation deck, you'll get an amazing view of the lovely historical town and its splendid surroundings.
