Le Super Proton Synchrotron, alias SPS, est un accélérateur de particules du CERN à Genève.
Il a servi d'injecteur au Large Electron Positron et sert maintenant au Large Hadron Collider.
La machine a une circonférence de 7 kilomètres, implantée au CERN à 40 mètres sous terre.
Le PS, premier synchrotron à protons de 25 GeV du CERN opérationnel en 1959, est son préaccélérateur. Il est encore en service.le SPS a été conçu à l'origine pour le régime pulsé d'un synchrotron.
