Socha slobody je stelesnením New Yorku v jednej pamiatke. Ikonická socha impozantných rozmerov sa na mesto pozerá ponad Ellis Island. Pre mnohých prisťahovalcov do USA je stálou pripomienkou hodnoty slobody.
Pamätník dosahuje výšku viac než 92 metrov. V roku 1886 dostalo USA pôvodne medenú sochu do daru od Francúzska. Svojho času to bola najvyššia stavba v New Yorku.
Jestvuje len jediný spôsob, ako sa k Soche slobody dostať, a to trajektom. Vyplaviť sa môžete z dvoch miest – z New Yorku alebo New Jersey. Majte na pamäti, že pred nalodením musíte prejsť bezpečnostnou kontrolou. Okrem toho nezabudnite ani na to, že do koruny ani podstavca nie je možný vstup s jedlom, tekutinami či batožinou. Za poplatok sú vám k dispozícii skrinky.

Pedestal access is included in the ferry ticket price. To ascend to the crown, you need to purchase a special ticket ($3) together with the ferry ticket. The Hospital tours ($40) are available only to visitors over the age of 13.
