Belém National Palace

Local namePalácio Nacional de Belém
LocationBelém, Lisbon, Portugal

The palace was built in the 18th century in what is now a historical part of Lisbon. Consisting of five buildings, the complex is a beautiful architectural gem, combining features of Baroque and Mannerist styles. It has been used as the official residence of Portugal's president since 1910.

It also houses the Presidential Museum, which focuses on the history of the republic. If lucky, you can see Changing of the Guard near the entrance of the complex.

How do you know that the president is in Belém? A green flag with the national coat of arms is raised. The nearest train station is Belém.
