Dividing the US from Canada, these world-famous falls are simply breathtaking.
The falls are easily reachable by car and the route is signposted well. If coming from NY and interested in a scenic drive: after crossing the Peace Bridge, take the first exit on the right and get on Central Avenue. There, drive until you reach Niagara River, then turn left onto the Niagara Parkway.
Parking right in the tourist center is quite expensive; if you want to save money, look for parking on your way – there are many lots advertised off the road. The best value for what you get is the Rapidsview parking lot situated 1.5 km south of the falls that offers a free shuttle included in the price of day parking ($10). Note that it is open only on weekends from mid-May to mid-June.
There are also shuttle buses, regular Greyhound service and Amtrak trains operating from NY, Boston, Albany and other major cities.
Don't forget to take your passport as you will probably have to cross the border between the US and Canada. There are three crossings.
Operating hours for sites and attractions in the region vary by site and season.
